THE RESEARCH COMMISSION

The College of Estate Management carried out this independent research during 2006 and 2007. The project was designed to examine the issues surrounding the sustainability of newly constructed housing, in comparison with the refurbishment of existing housing, in the context of the government's Sustainable Communities Plan. The research was sponsored by the BRE Trust. This section of the report outlines the background to the research and explains the scope of the study in more detail.
