Balanced Value is a tool for construction professionals who want to incorporate functional performance and "triple bottom-line" sustainability (social, environmental and economic) into their decision-making processes.
The tool is web-based and should be used in conjunction with guidance. See http://www.balancedvalue.com. This information paper describes the tool and explains it in the context of case studies and how it can be applied at three levels: entry, intermediate and expert (the expert level requires "Logical Decisions for Windows" software).
The Balanced Value toolbox is a web-based directory of design tools, with a simple analysis of what each tool does.
The decision making framework is a method for comparing design and specification options, allowing disparate priorities to be wighed against each other to provide the overall 'best' answer, according to the objectives and goals set by the user.
