The construction industry is a major consumer of resources and has a large impact on the sustainability of the UK and the wider world. BRE Global has developed a Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products (BES 6001) and associated certification scheme to manage and reduce the impacts throughout the supply chain. BES 6001 aims to provide manufacturers and distributors with a means of having construction products independently assessed and certificated as being responsibly sourced. This Information Paper provides an overview of the responsible sourcing of construction products and an introduction to the responsible sourcing standard and certification scheme developed by BRE Global.
