This method covers the procedure for the determination of flash point of asphalt binder by the Cleveland open-cup apparatus.
This test method is applicable to asphalt binder with flash point between 80°C (175°F) and 400°C (750°F).
Note—Specifications commonly designate the Tag Open-Cup method (AASHTO T 79) for asphalt binders and cutback asphalts having flash points below 93°C (200°F).
