This test method covers the determination of bulk specific gravity (Gmb) of compacted bituminous mixtures.

This method can be used with samples that contain open or interconnecting voids or absorb more than 2.0 percent water by volume, or both.

Note 1 - Water absorption by volume is determined using T 166; this specification does not contain a direct determination of the water absorption by volume.

The bulk specific gravity of the compacted bituminous mixtures may be used in calculating the unit mass of the mixture.
