In December 1991, ACI sponsored and International Conference on Evaluation and Rehbilitation of Concrete Structures and Innovations in Design. This was keeping with the mission of the Institute and specific on emerging concrete technology in the Pacific Rim region, and to provide technical support for a growing number in ACI International chapters and members. The conference was held in Hong Kong, December 2-6, 1991. More than 80 papers were published in the conference proceedings issued by ACI as SP-128. As a follow-up of the very successful Hong Kong conference, ACI Board of Direction approved a second international conference for 1994. The theme of the conference was High-Performance Concrete and the conference was held in Singapore. The proceedings of the conference were published as in Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the conference was "High-Performance Design and Materials and Recent Advances in Concrete Technology". More than 90 papers from 25 countries were received and reviewed in accordance with the policies of ACI, and 52 were accepted for this publication SP-172.
