Abstract:

With over 5,800 metalcasting terms, this dictionary is essential to anyone working in the metalcasting industry—from administrative staff to the board room, to the designer, engineer and educator, the industry supplier, to the molder on the foundry floor, to the college student.

After we published the second edition of the Metalcasting Dictionary in 2004, our Sr. Technical Editor, Sue Thomas, kept copious notes on metalcasting terminology that would need to be added to our next edition. In 2019 we decided that it was time to share what Sue had been tracking for 15 years. (Sue has degrees in Engineering, Materials Science and Metallurgy which helps to ensure that the contents of this dictionary are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.)
