Linked to this is the desire for the simplest possible operation, so that even less well-trained personnel can carry out the measurements.

The adaptation of a roughness measuring system on a modern gear measuring machine was used to achieve the goal. Today, such machines can be used directly in production and are easy to operate. The automatic measuring movements are also used for the processes of roughness measurement. Thus, serial measurements of the roughness are possible as in the gearing measurement. The roughness measurement no longer requires specially trained personnel due to this automation.
