First of all, the author describe the influence of different major parameters on Wear and Pitting phenomena (Geometry, Contact Pattern, Contact Pressure, Sliding 'Velocity, etc...). New criteria are proposed to compare different geometry.

The sensitivity to take into account these phenomena is compared between existing and draft rating standards. Wear and pitting behavior are presented based on experimental results with long endurance tests.

To conclude a new methodology is proposed to predict these phenomena.
