Form and shape of running gears are often toleranced. The same features of splines and serration gauges may need to have the same permissible geometrical tolerances as those for running gears. Examples are given in the paper which prove that, in view of often small required tolerances, it will often be necessary to calibrate splines and serration gauges with the smallest possible uncertainty.
