PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide a standard for specifying bonded resistance strain gages.

In accomplishing the purpose of this document, it is necessary to:

(a) Establish standard nomenclature for describing bonded resistance strain gages in this specification.

(b) Prescribe the minimum amount and kind of qualification and quality control tests to be performed by strain gage manufacturers, and to standardize the manner in which the data are furnished.

(c) Define the minimum capabilities of the test equipment to be used to perform the qualification and quality control tests.

(d) Set forth the methods to be used to perform the qualifications and quality control tests.

(e) Establish criteria for classification of strain gages with respect to performance.

(f) Classify strain gages with respect to performance.
