This standard specifies earthquake instrumentation for the site structure and equipment of!ight water-cooled, land-based nuclear power plants and may be used for guidance, where appropriate, at other types of nuclear power plants. This standard does not include the following: (1) Instrumentation to automatically shut down a nuclear power plant at a predetermined ground acceleration. (2) Instrumentation to provide specific information which would increase knowledge and understanding of seismic design. (3) Procedures for evaluating records obtained from seismic instrumentation and instructions for treatment of data. These procedures and instructions are specified in American National Standard Guidelines for Retrieval, Review, Processing and Evaluation of Records Obtained from Seismic Instrumentation, ANSI/ANS-2.10-1979.
