This Standard presents data recommended for computing biological dose rates due to neutron and gamma-ray radiation fields. Neutron flux­to-dose-rate conversion factors for energies from 2.5 x· 10-8 to 20 MeV are given; the energy range for the gamma-ray conversion factors is 0.01 to 15 MeV. Specifically, this Standard is intended for use by shield designers to·calculate whole­body dose rates to radiation workers and the general public. Establishing dose-rate limits is outside the scope of this Standard. Use of this Standard in cases where the dose equivalents are far in excess of occupational exposure guidelines is not recommended.
