Abstract:

Norbord proprietary OSB facers are 7/16 Performance Category panel sheathing that can be used as facers of structural insulated panels (SIPs) when manufactured to a proprietary mill specification documented in the in-plant manufacturing standard and approved by APA. In addition to the requirements for PS 2, the proprietary OSB facers meet the properties shown in Table 3 of this report, which are equal to or higher than those specified in Table 2 of ANSI/APA PRS 610.1 as referenced in the 2021 and 2018 IRC, Table R610.3.2 of the 2015 IRC, and Table R613.3.2 of the 2012 IRC. The proprietary OSB facers are also listed in APA Product Report PR-N610. Products may be treated with Borogard® ZB (registered trademark of U.S. Borax; an EPA registered zinc borate preservative), as recognized in APA Product Report PR-N213. The efficacy of the preservative treatment is outside the scope of this report and the APA certification program.
