This document can be used to bridge API's Environmental, Health and Safety Mission and Guiding
Principles and individual company activities aimed at improving environmental, health, and safety
performance. The self-assessment process provides a mechanism for measuring progress in implementing the management practices. The management practices, self assessments, and resource materials are organized around the following strategic elements: pollution prevention; operating and process safety; community awareness; crisis readiness, product stewardship; proactive government interaction; and resource conservation.
