This standard specifies requirements for the qualification of organizations providing coating/plating services for use in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
This standard is applicable to the coating/plating of parts, components, and equipment, in which API product standards require conformance with this standard or otherwise specified as a requirement.
The plating of electronic components, coating/plating process performed in the field, and the application of weld overlay and cladding are outside the scope of this document.
