Purpose of this Document
ARINC Specification 832 defines standards for the aircraft 4th Generation Cabin Network (4GCN) Cabin Distribution System (CDS) wiring, connectors, power, identification codes, space envelopes, and mounting principles. The equipment itself is not a subject of this specification because it may be unique to the system manufacturer and/or marketplace-driven. Design guidelines are included for informational purposes as these guidelines impact the interfaces and installation of cabin equipment aboard the aircraft.
This specification defines general architectural philosophy and aircraft infrastructure for the proper use and interface of various cabin related equipment. Compliance with ARINC Specification 832 allows each respective system to operate in concert when integrated with other relevant cabin equipment.
Functional improvements are capable of being performed through the addition or enhancement of modules without modification on the aircraft.
The CDS should be designed to support an airplane configuration and be scalable to all commercial aircraft types.
A generic configuration of cabin subsystems interconnection is shown in Figure 1-1. The block diagram also includes connection with avionics systems that contribute to the operation of the cabin.
