Purpose
This regulation establishes policy and procedures to insure that
a. The ability of materiel used by the Army to survive nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) contamination is considered early in the acquisition cycle.
b. Reasonable mission-related criteria are applied to equipment selected for such survivability.
c. Criteria for NBC contamination survivability, applied during the research and development (R&D) phase, are maintained or refined throughout production and deployment of the selected equipment.
