a. Information contained in this manual is common to more than one type of aircraft. In the event of conflict between these instructions and specific instructions in a particular aircraft or equipment maintenance manual, the instructions in the specific maintenance manual will prevail. Items recommended for use are specified by military or federal specification or vendor part number. Due to the broad aircraft and equipment coverage of the text, allowances may be made for aircraft or equipment variations in system requirements. When a particular procedure cannot be applied, the specific maintenance manual will provide explicit instructions for the requirement. If a particular item of consumable nature may not be used on the particular equipment, for any reason, refer to the applicable maintenance manual consumable list for approved items.

b. Report of errors, omissions, and recommendations for improving this publication by the individual user is encouraged. Reports should be submitted on DA Form 2028 (Recommended Changes to Publications and Blank Forms) and forwarded direct to: US Army Aviation Systems Command, ATTN: AMSAV-MPSD, 4300 Goodfellow Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63120-1798.

PURPOSE

This manual sets forth, in general, the description, instructions for maintenance policies, practices, and procedures used by maintenance personnel for Department of the Army aircraft. These instructions are to be used as a guide in familiarizing personnel with various maintenance measures to preserve, identify, or dispose of aircraft and their related equipment. Thorough, repetitive inspections at regular intervals and effective repair actions will result in the highest percentage of equipment being in a ready-to-use status. A well established preventive maintenance schedule will prevent undue wear and deterioration to aircrat and equipment, and ensure a high standard of operation.
