Deals with the responsibility of employers and employees to ensure that statutory regulations and safe working procedures are followed, the selection and training of personnel including supervisors, the work methods employed in manual handling, and the need to consider mechanical devices. It refers to the use of protective clothing and the preventive measures which should be considered and to the need to investigate and record all accidents and injuries. A typical check list for investigating manual handling tasks is given in an appendix, and a second appendix describes recommended methods for handling materials, together with a series of photographic illustrations showing correct methods.
