This type of protection can be applied only to those kinds of equipment, and parts of equipment, which do not produce sparks or arcs or dangerous temperatures in normal service. It specifies the measures to be applied in order to increase the safety of such equipment so that it is suitable for operation in areas endangered by explosive gas atmospheres.
