Specifies dimensions, details of components, testing and marking of eight types of tank container of nominal external lengths 6000 and 12 000 mm, and maximum gross masses of 20 320 and 30 480 kg. It follows the external dimensions specified in AS 1563, and refers specifically to containers to be used for the carriage of both hazardous and non-hazardous fluids under most conditions. The types are differentiated according to nature of contents and test pressure. Load transferring areas in base structures of containers, grapple arm lifting area, and liquid heating requirements are dealt with in appendices.
