Sets out recommendations for the fusion welding of steel castings. The code is primarily intended to apply to the manual metal-arc welding of steel castings, but additional guidance for other welding processes has been given. Other fusion welding processes may be used provided they are suitably adapted to the recommendations of this standard. The code does not cover the welding of steel castings into a composite structure containin disimilar metals, nor the surface deposition of weld metal for applications such as corrosion resistance or hard facing.
