This Standard relates to simple forms of limit gauges such as cylindrical plug and ring gauges and gap gauges. Provision is made for General gauges only, the function of which is to decide whether the finished size of a piece of work does, or does not, conform to the drawing limits. rEcommendations regarding materials for gauges are not made in this standard, but for guidance, a general note on the hardness of steel gauges is included.
