Applies to ultrasonic testing of carbon and low alloy steel plate 1/2 inch to 5 inch inclusive in thickness. It provides for three levels of plate quality based on the presence of discontinuities. Ultrasonic testing of plate outside of this thickness range is a matter for negotiation between the purchaser and the supplier, and where applicable is subject to agreement by the relvant Statutory Authorities.
