This method specifies two procedures for determining porosity by determining the ratio of the volume of the open pores to the bulk volume of a refractory and apparent specific gravity by determining the ratio of the mass of a refractory to the mass of a quantity of water which is at 4 degrees centigrade has a volume equal to the apparent solid volume at the temperature of measurement.
