The purpose of this Standard is to provide test criteria for nonelectric, nonpneumatic thermostatic radiator valves. This Standard will also enable users to write specifications for and to procure products which meet accepted performance and safety criteria.

This Standard shall apply to all nonelectric, nonpneumatic thermostatic radiator valves for steam and hydronic heating systems having maximum operating ratios of 200 psi (1380 kPa) and 248 op (120 °C) for hot water and 15 psi (103 kPa) for saturated steam.

This Standard shall specify the way in which certain characteristics affecting performance shall be presented, and it will also specify safety precautions for the installation and use of nonelectric, nonpneumatic thermostatic radiator valves. This Standard shall not cover design detail construction, materials, or dimensional specifications of nonelectric, nonpneumatic radiator valves.
