The purposes of this Standard are to: 1.1.1 Classify positive displacement refrigerant condensing units as to type. 1.1.2 List and define the terms used in the testing of positive displacement refrigerant condensing units. 1.1.3 Specify the data required. 1.1.4 Establish conditions and methods of test, which shall be used to obtain the required data for determining the capacity, power input, performance factor, and oil pumping rate of positive displacement refrigerant condensing units.

This standard has been written to provide common methods of testing for rating positive displacement refrigerant condensing units so that comparative evaluations of capacity and performance can be made irrespective of the type or make of unit.
