The purpose of this standard is to provide standard test methods for determining the cooling capacity of unitary air-conditioning equipment and the cooling and/or heating capacities of unitary heat pump equipment.
These test methods may be used as a basis for rating such equipment, but it is not the purpose of this standard to specify methods of establishing ratings since this involves factors such as manufacturing tolerances and quality control procedures which are beyond the scope of this standard.
