This standard was prepared under the auspices of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). It may be used, in whole or in part, by an association or government agency with due credit to the ASHRAE. Adherence is strictly on a voluntary basis and merely in the interest of obtaining uniform standards throughout the industry. This is a revision of ASHRAE Standard 40- l980 (RA 92), including coverage for heating operation in addition to cooling, coverage for adsorption and enginedriven systems in addition to absorption, and the transition to SI units in addition to IP.
