Like other 6XXX aluminum series alloys, AA6066 contains magnesium and silicon in approximate proportions to form Mg2Si, the constituent responsible for the precipitation hardening capability of the alloy. AA6066 develops intermediate strength levels when heat treated and it possesses good formability and corrosion resistance.
