ALLOY 188 is a cobalt-base alloy designed for critical high-temperature applications up to 2000 F. It offers the excellent oxidation resistance of the chromium-nickel alloys (through a minute addition of lanthanum) and good post-aging ductility. It is primarily a solid-solution-strengthened alloy, is readily cold worked to increase strength and hardness, and is weldable by conventional methods. It is used in the aerospace, chemical and nuclear fields.
