AISI 1117 is a resulfurized carbon steel for use where a free-machining carburizing steel is required. Its manganese content (nominally 1.15%) provides some increase in hardenability in all applications and increased hardness and strength in uncarburized uses and in the core of carburized parts. Its applications include a wide range of components of components and parts for machinery and structures.
