Since 1952, Alloy Digest has been the leading reference for materials property data on metals and alloys used throughout the world. Featuring graphs, charts and tables, these sheets give facts and figures on composition or characterization, physical and mechanical properties, heat treatment, and machinability.

Copper Alloy No. C86400 is a free-machining, low-tensile (60,000 psi), cast manganese bronze; it is also classified as high-strength yellow brass. Although it is around the low-strength end of the manganese bronzes, its tensile strength is substantially greater than that of the corresponding copper-zinc (yellow brass) alloy. Copper Alloy No. C86400 has good resistance to corrosion and an excellent combination of strength and ductility. Typical uses are marine fittings, valve stems, lever arms and light-duty gears. This revision corrects mistakes in Table 2 and printing gaps under Specification Equivalents.
