AISI 5135 is a low-alloy, through-hardening steel containing nominally 0.95% chromium. It is recommended for applications where medium hardenability, moderate strength and low-to-moderate toughness are sufficient. It may be used in the unhardened (annealed, as-rolled, or normalized) condition or after quenching in oil followed by tempering.
