CBS-50NiL VIM-VAR is produced by vacuum induction melting followed by Vac-Are remelting. It meets high cleanliness standards. It is a low carbon, nickel added variant of AISI M50 (see Alloy Digest Filing Code: TS-415 of July, 1983). High core fracture toughness is its primary advantage over the non-carburizing M50 VIM-VAR.
