Tin-Bismuth 60-40 is a tin-base alloy that can be melted easily. It is a non-eutectic alloy and melts through the temperature range 281-338 F (138-170 C). It provides scientists, engineers and technicians with an easily castable material that is ready for use soon after it freezes; in addition, it can be recovered readily an recycled into new uses any number of times. Among its many uses are fusible mandrels for electroforming, low-temperature solder, holding parts for machining, dies for a wax patterns for investments casting and liquid scals for furnaces.
