Nirosta 4000 is a common ferritic stainless steel. Like all 13% Cr steels, the corrosion resistance lies at the lower durability limit for stainless steels. The alloy therefore offers resistance only to dilute acids, water, and steam. The alloy possesses a higher resistance to corrosion when highly polished or precision ground. It is used principally as apparatus for the mineral oil industry.
