UNICUT 2 is a high-carbon, high-vanadium, molybdenum-type of high-speed steel. The high carbon and vanadium contents provide higher resistance to abrasion when compared with other standard high-speed steels; however, this is accomplished at a slight loss in machinability and grind-ability. In many cases, this is considered to be of minor consequence where better wear resistance is required. Typical applications include drills, reamers, milling cutters, broaches and wood-working tools.
