AIRKOOL is a high-hardenability (deep-hardening) tool and die steel that is intermediate in abrasion resistance between the oil-hardening and high-carbon high-chromium tool steels. It possesses superior toughness to both of these types; furthermore, AIRKOOL can be machined readily and has excellent non-deforming characteristics. It is well suited for applications requiring toughness and fairly high resistance to abrasion. Typical applications for AIRKOOL include blanking dies, forming dies, punches and shear blades.
