AL TECH CHEROKEE is a high-carbon, high-chromium die steel containing nominally 3.25% cobalt. The cobalt provides effective resistance to galling and pickup as well as improved hot hardness. The cobalt enables this steel to perform exceptionally well on both extended cold-work and moderate hot-work applications. Another feature of this versatile die steel is its outstanding secondary hardness associated with remarkable tempering resistance up to 900 F. Typical applications comprise blanking dies, swaging dies, hot and cold-piercing punches, forming rolls, shear blades and coining dies.
