THYRAPID 3247 is a super high-speed tool steel able to attain a hardness of Rc 66/68 with nominal heat treatment. The higher hardness finds favor for special purpose cutting tools with requirements beyond the capability of general purpose high-speed steels. The alloy is similar to AISI M42.
