View Sample Alloy Digest Data Sheet (PDF)

Since 1952, Alloy Digest has been the leading reference for materials property data on metals and alloys used throughout the world. Featuring graphs, charts and tables, these sheets give facts and figures on composition or characterization, physical and mechanical properties, heat treatment, and machinability.

This group Elkonite materials consists of a series of tungsten-silver compositions with the tungsten content ranging from 50-88 wt.%. Tungsten has the highest strength and the highest melting temperature of the refractory metals. This is the principal factor in determining resistance of a contact to arc erosion and mechanical wear. The strength, erosion, and weld-resistance characteristics of the contact increase with increasing tungsten content; the electrical and thermal characteristics decrease. The highest refractory content that will provide a satisfactory temperature and current interruption should be chosen.
