View Sample Alloy Digest Data Sheet (PDF)

Since 1952, Alloy Digest has been the leading reference for materials property data on metals and alloys used throughout the world. Featuring graphs, charts and tables, these sheets give facts and figures on composition or characterization, physical and mechanical properties, heat treatment, and machinability.

This group of Elkonite tungsten-silver alloys are made by the press-sinter-repress method for attachment to backings by silver brazing. The tungsten-silver group of Elkonite materials consists of a series of tungsten-silver compositions with a wide range of tungsten content. Tungsten has the highest strength and the highest melting temperature of the refractory metals. This is the principal factor in determining the resistance of a contact to arc erosion and mechanical wear. The strength, erosion, and weld resistance characteristics of the contact increase with increasing tungsten content; the electrical and thermal characteristics decrease.
