Zircadyne 705 is a zirconium-niobium (columbium) alloy which contains 2-3% niobium. Zircadyne 705 can contain up to 4.5% hafnium which is naturally present in the zirconium ore. The hafnium is very similar to zirconium metallurgically and chemically and is not detrimental to the corrosion resistance of Zircadye 750 in chemical application. Zircadyne 705 exhibits a similar corrosion resistance to unalloyed zirconium (Zircadyne 702) in most applications. Zircadyne 705's strength is nearly double that of grade 702, and it has better formability. Because of its excellent resistance to many corrosive media and its good mechanical and heat transfer properties, Zircadyne 705 has found widespread use in many chemical process applications.
