1.1 This specification covers asphalt roofing in sheet form, in widths agreed upon between the purchaser and the producer/supplier, composed of asphalt-saturated organic felt coated on both sides with asphalt. Class M and WS rolls are surfaced on the (exposed) weather side with mineral granules, except for any selvage. Class S rolls are surfaced with powdered talc, mica, or other fine mineral matter to prevent sticking. 1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.3
