These guidelines pertain to any elements intended to be used in the performance of the sports including skateboarding, inline skating, and BMX biking. Items such as fencing, lighting, and operational structures are not intended to be a part of this guide.

1.2 This guide applies to above-ground (indoor/outdoor) skatepark elements, intended for recreational use.

1.3 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the standard.
