1.1 This provisional specification establishes uniform labeling criteria and package requirements for wet mops for household and institutional use. This standard does not apply to dry mops (that is, dust mops).

Note 1 - Provisional standards require only subcommittee consensus and are published for a limited time of two years. The provisional process was used because many mops either are mislabeled or have confusing labels. This provisional standard was developed to assist manufacturers in conveying the exact mop components more precisely to the marketplace.
