As part of ensuring interoperability across equipment and networks providing IPTV service, it is important to establish an ecosystem where a set of requirements are specified and met for device identities. This specification provides a format and syntax for IPTV device identities to meet the requirements set for these identities. It also profiles the IETF Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) to produce a new EAP method that enables interoperable device and subscriber authentication, including the binding of a subscriber to one or more devices.
