This Technical Report provides a mathematical analysis of the waveform characteristics for the DS1, DS1A, DS1C, DS3 and DS4NA electrical signals of the digital hierarchy. Contained within this document are analytical models of the signals transmitted at the associated frequencies, and a mathematical prediction of the waveshapes at the cross-connect frame. Influence of the transmission medium and the effects of pre-equalization on pulse characteristics are also addressed.
